Irradiation (Gamma, E-beam, and X-ray) is one of the most reliable and widely used terminal sterilisation methods in the medical device industry. Governed internationally by ISO 11137, it delivers rapid terminal sterilisation with high penetration, no toxic residues, and no need for quarantine periods post-exposure. However, irradiation is not universally suitable for every material. Choosing radiation depends heavily on polymer radiation stability, physical state, and chemic
